The waning approaches...

And so we approach the final month of the year...December is coming on fast...It's coming on Christmas; they're cutting down trees as Joni said (more of her later) and the winter is a-coming... This week has been pretty good for the photography business - pretty good in one way I suppose...To add to last weeks news that Dreamstime added me to their exclusive contributor list I was notified by another client that they are going to use some of my images on a couple of calendars in 2016! This is good news commercially but the bad news is that I won't get paid for that until December 2015...hey ho...Still...I shall publicise the calendars when they are available (what this space in about a years time!!).

Of course the weather has once again been unkind with a week of almost permanent low cloud and rain...the day when it was cold and frosty my son Quinn was off school sick, so even then I couldn't get out for long...I did manage a few shots of ice flowers on our car...

the background colour s are the result of the surface of the car -pink for the painted bodywork; blue for the windscreen...I feel this is something I can experiment with more should we get more frosts...

I have also been working my way through my archive for images to submit...always reminds me of successful shoots in more suitable weather and trips to favourite places...

Some of the above you may have seen before...I hope you like them...

Also this week I had a booking confirmed for next Sunday - the Sing! Choir group are putting on a concert in Ely Cathedral and I am shooting the full rehearsal - with hopefully a shot from above looking down from inside the octagon...Of course I shall let you know how that goes as soon as I can...in the mean time you can keep up to date with my goings on here on Facebook or here on Flickr.

Now back to Joni...I have recently been reading the autobiography of Graham Nash - he of Hollies and Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young fame...and whilst he was reminiscing about his past loves it suddenly occurred to me that all those beautiful songs written by Joni on Ladies of the Canyon and Blue were inspired by the same second rate, fly-by-night lucky journey man musician writing the book...I mean how can such a mediocre talent become so influential...much as I love those albums and each song I will never hear them quite the same again...Joni...how could you...

I hope you all have a good week...and I shall see you next weekend I hope. Now...have you got your Christmas shopping done yet?

So the year spins by...

Well the week has been a mixture of a week - weather has not been kind to a predominantly outdoor photographer so picture taking opportunities have been limited  -  BUT the good news is that I have been accepted as an Exclusive Contributing Photographer to the Dreamstime Agency...this means that I get paid for every picture I successfully upload as well as a higher percentage when they sell. So that if nothing else will drive me out to take pictures everyday!!! The link to my ever growing portfolio is here... if you want to look or even buy... This has lead me to revisit my archive and pick out some choice images for submission...

A small selection...

really like these colours above...

...and these...

just a tad lucky with the timing of this shot of a swan feeding...but I love the texture on the water...

I did manage to get out briefly during the week...which resulted in... the following...

just can't resist the dewy spider's web...

as you can see the fen was shrouded in a bit of misty fog...

and even in November the unseasonal weather allows butterflies to still be on the wing...

kinda makes you want to walk along there and see what's round the corner...

That about wraps it up for this week...not sure how long I shall keep writing these...hits seem to be falling on a week by week basis...so we shall see...

I shall still keep posting here and here if you want to see what I shoot...

See you all soon...

Like trees in November...

So...we drift into mid Autumn and the days start with mists and damp...humidity levels high...a chill to the bone, aches in the joints and a stiffness in the back...for those of you who live in warm countries - Abu Dhabi and Australia all - I hope you are enjoying your warmth...

The week did however, start warm - well that is relative but for November it was mild if a little cloudy...I did manage to get out and about with the Nikon...and found these...

which made the start to the week successful...I also had a couple of dozen images accepted by Dreamstime and made a few sales on top of that...a link to my Portfolio can be found here...

A trip out into the countryside to view a house yielded these...

as you can see - the sun was out...I also paid a visit to a churchyard in Ely - good places for wildlife as they are relatively undisturbed...there I found...

Further shoots for insurance companies and submissions to Dreamstime filled up the rest of the week days, whilst in the evening I continued my wanderings through my back catalogue...

And then the weekend comes...Saturday was dreary, dank and cold...mist and car headlights all day (you know the kind of thing)...as for Sunday...well it could be a sunny day so maybe I shall get out and about...although I have wood to cut for the fire and tea to prepare...

That about sums up the week...of course daily updates can be found here... or on my Flickr page here.

I hope you all have a good week and start with the Christmas shopping!!!
