Windmills of your mind...

Now that was a week and a half - nearly all the things we set out to do we did although as I'm writing this nothing has been done... Confused? Then I shall explain...

We found somewhere to live - a gorgeous house in the village of Wicken. As far as I'm concerned it's a great location as a wonderful nature reserve is just out the back...

offering plenty of photo opportunities...

and close to the wonderful Fenland landscape...

with more photo opportunities - yes I've been at the poppies again... sorry!

I found this old barn that lent itself to my muted style...

even in the fenland countryside you can find industrial remains...

I enjoyed exploring armed with the usual...

my Nikon D2Xs + bag of primes (Nikkors 28mm f2.8 AFD; 50mm f1.8 AFD and 85mm f1.8 AFD + SB-700 speedlight) all in my trusty Billingham.

So, with that sorted - well it's not sorted as we have to wait for all the referencing etc. to go though; but apart from that we now have to find a school for Quinn - as is the case wherever you are in the UK it is a lottery - the freedom to choose means that all the good schools are full so you have to choose 3,  go on the waiting list and hope you get a place before September... Now comes the fun of choosing 3 and waiting... (It's always waiting... waiting...waiting...)

We did however get the chance to wander around Cambridge - a city I have been to before but one I don't know. I'm sure there will be plenty of photo opportunities here with the tourists, students and hundreds of years of history...

I mean... they have odd modes of transport...

 ...peculiar socks...

...but there is some lovely architecture, and Quinn enjoyed climbing the trees and desperately trying to walk on the grass despite the signs...

I think we are all going to enjoy Cambridge... We wandered along the river which gave me the opportunity to experiment...

I know the technique is a little dated but sometimes it works...

In addition to Cambridge we are close to Ely - a small market town with a stunning Cathedral - a place with more photo opportunities...

So Ely also looks promising - we have the delights of St Ives to look forward to...

One interesting thing we did see in the middle of Cambridge was the emergence of thousands of moths from their silken tents on the trees of Jesus Green...

An interesting sight although Quinn ran away!!!?

So for now, that's about it... I will be shooting away in Scarborough this week so some more coastal images next time - we are also staying with friends so I hope I can blog next week - stay tuned for that.

Don't forget to follow the daily shots HERE or on TWITTER and you can also check out my new website - which will be revamped when I get a moment... WEBSITE...

I hope you all have a good week
